CASE STUDIES BASED ON

Following the review of manipulative methods, three case studies were analysed. Each case study was chosen on account of the designer expressing a key manipulative element within the design. This analysis will critique said method and assess other theories shown within the architectural design that appears to manipulate human behaviour.

In addition, two participants were examined through an observational experiment (recorded through diagrams and site photographs shown on each case study). This enabled each site to be compared in terms of psychological and behavioural effects of the participant in response to the manipulative method in the architecture stimuli. Two participants were chosen for the overt participant observation considering controlled variables in order to draw appropriate conclusions. Therefore, Participant A and Participant B, were not aware of the reason for the experiment or of each other. Both were of similar demographics including: Gender-Male, Age-21, Interests-Sport/Fashion, Enjoy shopping in general.
